Radiccio 1.0.4: minor update
Tuesday, November 18, 2025
This update is focused on improving Librarian file scanning, and some additional Apple Music fixes.
File scanning improvements
-
The Librarian file scanner should now be much faster on repeat scans. While the initial scan may still take some time, the scanner will now skip files that have not changed since the last scan, which makes subsequent scans much faster (assuming most of your files have not changed). In particular, this should help with “On My Mac” sources that are located on slower external drives or network volumes. (In a test run with a slow network volume with 30,000 files, scan time was reduced from 2.5 hours to 10 minutes. Your mileage may vary.)
-
You can now choose to initiate a manual scan of a single folder at a time, rather than an entire source. This can be helpful if you have made changes to a small number of files, or added a new folder of files, and want to see those results more quickly. More info
-
The scanner is now able to ignore files that were previously causing an error, so that a scan can be completed. If you had previously found that Radiccio was unable to complete a scan successfully, it’s worth trying again!
-
A new button in Settings > Librarian allows you to view a log with technical info about your last scan. This log indicates any files that it was unable to scan properly. If you find any examples of this, we can investigate if you let us know.
-
We have added some additional settings in the advanced section related to file scanning. In general, we recommend not changing these unless advised by support.
More Apple Music fixes and improvements
-
You can now listen to artist radio stations. From your library, use the “…” menu when viewing an artist. From the catalog, search for an artist and find the button in the top right. (A paid Apple Music subscription is required for this feature. Radiccio Plus! is not required.)
-
When adding an album or playlist to your Apple Music library from the catalog, the new content doesn’t always appear right away, as a result of MusicKit limitations. This could be a rather confusing experience, so we have added some more guidance to Radiccio’s UI to explain what’s going on. After adding an item, Radiccio may suggest that you launch Music.app and/or relaunch Radiccio. The specific instructions may vary depending on the situation. After following these instructions, the content should appear in Radiccio. We wish this wasn’t necessary, but we hope this is helpful.
-
Improved album sorting in the Artists tab when running on macOS Tahoe. (Not all albums can be sorted properly, as a result of MusicKit limitations, but it should be better than it was before.)
Other changes
- You can now save a diagnostic file from the Help menu. This is helpful when writing to us for support.
Note: Updates may not appear immediately due to App Store caching.
